Introducing Near Miss Reporting: Helping Improve Safety in the Traffic Management Industry
This week marks National Road Safety Week (NRSW) - an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group, partnering with road safety organisations and Government. The week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it.
In 2023, Traffio attended the launch of NRSW, and later hosted Peter Fraser the Founder of SARAHGroup at the Traffio office. These interactions highlighted to the team just how important further awareness and data is to support safer roads across Australia. Through the last 12 months, Traffio continued discussions with VicRoads and the Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA), and it became clear that Traffio as the industry leading booking and scheduling platform, had a unique opportunity to support a key industry where customer employees are out on the roads every single day, sadly many experience unsafe moments.
And so, Traffio is proud to unveil the latest feature to the software: Near Miss Reporting—a feature developed to change how near miss incidents are identified, documented, and addressed within the industry.
Like the Traffio software overall, the goal was to streamline the process and make it easy to acknowledge and report near misses in a simple form seamlessly integrated into the Traffio app. This feature empowers users to capture vital near misses data in real-time, for both their business and the wider industry.
So, what sets Traffio's Near Miss Reporting apart? It's simplicity. Through a user-friendly interface, team members can effortlessly document near miss incidents, providing crucial details with just swipe and a few clicks. Whether identifying risks, conditions, or influencing factors, the feature ensures accuracy and comprehensiveness in reporting with just a few clicks (with an "Other" field available if more details is needed to be added).
Moreover, Near Miss Reporting is more than just a documentation tool— Traffio designed this to be a support for change. By collating the data into reports, it offers insights that drive informed decision-making and facilitate continuous improvement in safety protocols at a business and Traffio user level. External reporting is still in refinement, to ensure privacy and anonymity, while also delivering data that serves purpose without compromising confidentiality.
Traffio's aspirations for Near Miss Reporting are to help those advocating for safer conditions on the roads to have real data from real experiences. Every TC should be able to carry out their duties with confidence, knowing that their well-being is a top priority and they will return home at night to those who they matter to.
This feature it's an example of Traffio's continued support and respect for the Temporary Traffic Management industry. The Near Miss Reporting Feature was developed with passion and the reporting and data will be offered to the industry bodies and those advocating for the industry at no cost. Should you have any questions or feedback, our team stands ready to assist, because together, we're not just here to help shape the future of traffic management—we're creating a safer one. **The data that your employees upload will push to or pull from Staffd if you use it.
